During my latest sewing project, where I was using lots of long strips of lace, I was becoming more and more frustrated at having to untangle the knotted mess my lace had become from being stuffed into a plastic bag at the bottom of my sewing drawer. Then, a light bulb went on in my head, and I came up with the perfect solution!
Empty cardboard toilet-paper cores!
Just tape the end of the lace strip to the core with a piece of scotch-tape, then wind it around the core, fastening with another tiny piece of tape, or a sewing pin. And voila! Not only is the problem of knotted-up lace solved, but if you have lots of different colored rolls, they look pretty good sitting on your sewing table, too. (Makes mine look like I actually have some clue as to how to sew!)
