Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

Posted: Feb 26, 2014

Who is watching Honey Boo Boo?  I had some reservations about the show when it first previewed with Alana's "You better rednexiingnize us."   It is interesting because Barbara Walters named "Honey Boo Boo" as one of the most interesting persons one year.  For those who do not watch it is a story of "red-neck" family living in McIntyre, GA.  There is a quite a bit of room for criticism on how they live and talk but at the end of the day I think they are a nice family.  The children's money is being kept in a trust fund.  Alana ("Honey Boo Boo") originally was on Toddler's and Tiaras and I cannot say it too many times how happy I am she got her own show rather than some of the obnoxious girls on Toddler's and Tiaras.

I'm hooked on this show now. I find it very entertaining. I think they're a nice close-knit family too.

money kept in trust fund - SURE!!!

ive got some land to sell you too...

I'm pretty sure that legally it HAS to go into a trust - fund. (Think back to the olden days -

when parents got rich off their movie-star children, squandered it, and the child never saw a cent of the money.)

If those laws weren't in place to protect the child, chances are pretty good Mama June would've already blown through it all, by now.

I hope so especially when I think of the Gosselin children from Jon & Kate Plus Eight etc. IMO, Kate puts herself before her children now.

You've seen their house. They are not spending that money! - n/m

and if I had the time to, I would probably prefer to read, but I thought their Halloween picture where they all dressed up like the Kardashians was quite a hoot.

That hideous child, and her equally grotesque - mother, are an American embarrassment.

UGH.

Well, those willing to label a child hideous--sm - anon

are not necessarily making a case for American greatness either. Just sayin.

I agree. They show themselves in an honest light and June is certainly not a "Stepford wife." However, I think she is a good mother who tries to do what is best for her children. She is frugal and it is true she is putting money aside in a trust fund for the 4 girls not to touch until age 21 with the exception of paying for education. June is legally blind because of cataracts not taken care of as a child. Her foot or both feet are disfigured because of an accident. I think it is hoot Honey Boo Boo got her own TLC show while "Eden Wood" whose mother was invested so much $$ and creating a doll in Eden's likeness does not have her own show. Eden Wood seemed like a nice little girl compared to the other Toddler & Tiara terrors.
Also - Like the family

They also give a good amount of money back to the community. They are certainly not polished, but I believe June is a good mother, and Sugar Bear loves those children. In some ways we could learn from them. Wish my own family had been as close and loved each other the way they do.
T&T is disgusting! Child beauty pageants are disgusting! - n/m

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. But - that sows ear will never be a silk purse.

She has NO upbringing. She has NO manners. When she acts like a little jerk, her mother rewards her and laughs.

The mother thinks the country laughs WITH them, doesn't seem to realize most are laughing AT them.

What will this kid be like when she's 16? What (if any) values has she been taught? She may have been (sort of) cute as a toddler, but what's going to happen to her when she starts to take after mom, and finds she can't get by on her looks alone?

Does this child even go to school? (I think probably not. Children can be both intuitive and cruel, and they'd see her for what she's already becoming at way too early of an age, and they'd make her life miserable. However, if she's home-schooled, what could she possibly be learning? I seriously doubt it's geography, or how to read, or how to add 2+2.

More likely she's learning how to speak entire sentences while belching.

Honey We Need Time ApartJul 30, 2010
Today I caught my man "doing things" to a porn site.  This was the first time and I thought he didn't do this, kind of because he told me he didn't at the beginning of our relationship.  I WORK AT HOME.... I LIVE AT HOME... I barely go anywhere!  So this whole thing became a discussion about privacy and lack of it on his part.  He said I need to go places and that relationships are healthier if we spend time apart.  He thinks I need to find something to do, but ...
