Horrible to lose such lovely children with so much yet to offer.

If you had to go on a rampage and kill people, go to an old folks' home.  As I get closer to being in one, I think I'd probably appreciate an early end.  Also, they are certainly easier to catch (just being morbid).

Seriously, BAN ALL PERSONAL GUNS.  Nobody really needs to kill anything unless they're going to eat it.

;

OMG - did you really write that? - You really don't understand

[ In Reply To ..]
NO NOT BAN ALL PERSONAL GUNS. Jeepers get a grip! Not everyone who owns a gun is like that maniac. I thought we had this dicussion back along. Everytime a tragedy happens out come the cases saying everything should be banned. Um excuse me, but if I want to IT'S MY RIGHT ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION. Are you ready to start re-writing the constitution. There is a reason why people are allowed to own weapons. If that girl in the south did not have a weapon the men who broke into her home would have raped and killed her and her baby. If the guy across the street did not have a weapon I would have witnessed our neighbor being killed.

No way in you know where will I allow some psychotic kid be the deciding force as to why perfectly sane people like me and others will or will not own a gun. People don't own guns to "kill". People own guns to protect. Do you think the criminals and gang members are going to give up theirs? Maybe you should put up a sign outside your house saying come on in I don't own a gun take whatever you want. We can all live in happy happy joy joy land together and sing kumbuya.

Look at European and other countries which - L&L

ban guns and compare their murder rates to ours. I still say ban them. It is guns nor not lack thereof that is causing people to break into homes and rape people. Our over-burdened and soft criminal justice allows them to be out on the steets.

FYI, I don't even lock my door most days. Get a few old incontinent cats and see how many people manage to break in.

The people in european countries are not like here - Totally different -sm

[ In Reply To ..]
There is something different about the people there and here. They don't have the crime we do and it's not because they don't have guns (they do). They also put murders out living in the communities there. Do you want murders living next door to you?

The chill of what happened here makes me realize our society has changed. You cannot just leave your doors open at night time. Too much violence.

So take away the guns and then they start using knives and sharp instruments. Then what are you going to do, not allow any Americans the use of knives in their own home. How will the cut their meat or spread butter on their bread. After you take away the knives then what if they start using stones to throw and kill people, take away all rocks? on an on and on.
So I guess it's a good thing we're all dying - L&L

this Friday (12/21/12).

You protect yourself from the bad guys by putting them in jail, not by killing them yourself. Take it from me, US society has all the wrong values and totally sucks, and it is everyone's fault, but I'm too old to care anymore and my point was more like, let's kill the old people.

I don't give a rodent's behind about guns. I don't have one, need one, or want one and don't care who does, and I'm not interested in surviving at all costs, and I don't think anyone else is worth it either.
Huh - Not everyone wants to die as fast - totally different
[ In Reply To ..]
I thought I explained this in my previous message. People (the same ones) don't own guns to kill. They own guns to protect themselves and their neighbors if need be. If that school had a trained person with a gun the shootings would not have happened. If the Columbine or VTech had someone on campus that carried a gun to protect the kids this would have not happened. You can't say to the bad guys "oh please would you stop that. Gosh darn it i'm going to get made and use bad language. Please stop".

Wrong values are not everyone's fault. There are a lot of us out here with good values. I'm old, but I'll never be too old to care. Killing is not the solution. Identifying the potential threats and dealing with them is what needs to happen, not take away a law abiding sane US citizen who is following the constitution and can responsibly work with weapons.

I know you don't care about guns. That was obvious, but a lot of us do. You need to read and learn why our forefathers put that clause in the constitution. Read why it's important to own a gun.

I'm sorry you feel you are not worth surviving and you feel you are old and therefore all old people should be killed. I don't get that one. That's totally off from what i was saying in my messages.

I hope you can find some happiness with living. There is so much good in this world.

help to have armed guards at schools. Seriously against an assault weapon? Those guards would be the first to die. The shooter also was wearing body armor and spraying bullets. You would have to be a marksman to shoot a kill shot in that instance. We have to ban assault weapons and those ridiculous clips/drums that hold 30 or more rounds. I know there are a lot around now, but in the long term it would help cut down on the number of victims. How can anyone be against banning assault weapons? I see this argument being twisted by those who are defending their right to bear arms. An assault weapons ban will not take away your right to own guns. Different arguments so stop trying to combine them. No one wants to take your guns!!

Blank? I guess so. What a horrible thing to say. - no message

Lots of us use guns for protection and not to randomly shoot someone. If guns are banned, we will certainly see a lot more deaths because only the criminals will have them. These "crazies" that want to ban guns will be singing a different tune when or if that ever happened. They will never take my guns and I would never use them on another person except in self defense.

I'm sure the old folks would appreciate your sentiment! You cannot ban guns in total. That would literally start a civil war. I know if some government lackey came to my house to take my husband's handguns away, he would not get them and there is a good chance at some point some poor schmuck from the government would get to see the business end of someone's gun in action.

Between this whole redisturbiution of wealth and all this gun control talk, we are on the very edge of the very slippery slope of rewriting the constitution. Instead of altering the docterine that made this a great country to fit today's lack of values and structure in society, why are we not addressing the fact that the moral guardrails of society have broken down and we as a nation need to rebuild them?

I totally agree - no values anymore

In Florida where I live, you're actually allowed to shoot to kill if someone is on your property and threatening you. They don't even have to be in your house.

It's called defending your life and your family's life. It is YOUR right to not own a gun and nobody is trying to force you to. The part you don't seem to understand is that the bad guys are still going to get the guns on the black market.

I would agree that in this country, nobody needs a machine-gun type of weapon and nobody should be able to purchase one. But a legal handgun or a double-barrel? Sure.

If you don't wish to be able to defend yourself and your family, that's you're right. But don't take it away from those of us who value our life and our family's life.

Who wants to take it away? - Not me.

But no, I don't think anyone needs an AK-47.

In my state, if you shoot a burglar to kill, you go to jail. Hell, if he falls off your roof and breaks his neck, he can sue you.

you might feel really terrible if you kill someone who is on your property and you assume is planning harm. What about a teenager who is drunk, lives a few doors down, and thinks he is at his house? The Florida law is too ambiguous, considering how scared everyone is now of everyone else. Heaven forbid it is an African American or a Latino.

exactly.... - no parents in the homes

[ In Reply To ..]
saw a program the other night where it was stated that 99% of the sickos out there who do the mass murder killing sprees do not have a father or father figure in the home. Since the age of throw-away marriages and babies having babies, and no fathers standing up for their responsibilities, the moral values of this country have declined. Kids NEED father figures in their lives. Mothers alone cannot provide the structure and family cohesion a child needs and desires. This newest one did not have a father figure in his life either and had recently been "cut off" from communication with his dad, as well. I see a pattern.

[ In Reply To ..]
it no doubt upset him, as it would any child, especially if he had grown up with his father. Since his father was "well off", he was probably gone a lot though, and could be construed as never being there. Besides, what does financial status have to do with whether the kid had emotional problems or not. I heard he had a very high IQ too, and it seems those with higher brain function also tend to become rage victims.

Some of this stuff being spewed out by the media may not be true, either...just speculation to "get the story" and the "ratings." I would wait for the police investigation was complete before believing anything the media had to say...so really, technically, we don't know anything "factual" about this guys background.

What homes are you referring to? In general - or specific. NM

Yes, the moral guard rails have broken down for the past 30 or so years. The immoral greed in this country is sickening. The economic disparity between the rich and poor (as more middle class fall into this category) has never been so wide. What guard rails were you talking about?

What a horrible thing to say. My father died of natural causes in an "old folks home" this past February. He was almost 87 years old, had lived a good, long life, was a loving, caring man, and certainly would not have appreciated an "early end." I don't know if the statement was made in jest or not, but it was one of the rudest things I've read on here in a long time. Okay, had my say.

I have no interest in anyone who would make that kind of comment....but hey, it's a free country, right?

Separately, I do not think all guns should be banned; however, if our politicians can not agree on banning military style weapons meant to kill as many PEOPLE as possible as fast as possible, they have no business running our country.

Ban personal guns? Are you serious? The bad guys are still going to get them in the underground market. Do you seriously think a crook or a sick mind is going to obey that law? All you are doing by banning all personal guns is handing them to the bad guys and leaving yourself totally defenseless.

I totally see no reason for any type of machine-gun type, though. Nobody needs that for anything in a free world (which for the time being we are).

What happened to this country where we don't have a right to defend ourselves? If I want a legally purchased double-barrel shotgun under my bed to shoot an intruder climbing through my window in the middle of the night, that is my right and you can bet I'd use it. What are you going to do? Look into the barrel of his gun and try to reason with him?

Where did you get this from? SM - Curious

Ebay As An Alternative?Sep 11, 2015
I just typed a report where the patient significantly reduced her stress by quitting her job and selling stuff on Ebay. I know I read somewhere on here something about this but I don't remember if it said what people sell. Alternative Minimum TaxMar 15, 2017
Trump and the Pubs want to get rid of the alternative minimum tax.  Based on what is known about Trump's finances now that those 2 pages have been revealed, he would have paid a tax rate of 3 1/2% without the alternative minimum tax.  This would probably be true for the other millionaires and billionaires as well.  What do you think that would do to the federal budget and the national debt? ...

Possible Alternative Answer To Food Stamp FraudMay 17, 2015
Well, unable to get to church due to a knee joint flare (not mine) and playing nurse, I noticed others were asking below for alternative solutions to food stamp fraud other than Scott Walker's expensive and absurd plan to overhaul the EBT system to restrict types of food and drug test recipients.  So how about this? Ask the food stamp recipients to turn in their monthly grocery receipts to their caseworker for review.  Give them 3 strikes or they're out.  Not only does ...
