Acupuncture saved my dog!

Posted: Jun 4, 2010

My little 3-year-old yorkie/chihuahua, Odis, woke up one morning and was unable to feel his legs.  He was kind of dragging his feet and walking on the tops of his back feet.  He was in terrible pain.  I raced him to my regular vet.  He said Odis had severe spinal problems and would need to be put down or have a $3,500 surgery with no guarantee that he would even survive.   They loaded him up with painkillers and told me to bring him in the next day so they could put him down.   I called everyone I knew and someone who worked in a local Pet Shop suggested a vet who does acupuncture and spinal adjustments.  That vet got Odis in the next morning.  By then, Odies was so bad that I had to carry him into the office in a washbasket.  The vet totally checked Odis out.  He gave Odis a longer physical exam than I have ever received!  He decided to perform acupuncture and spinal manipulation.  He also medicated him so his muscle spasms would stop.  Within three days Odis was up and walking about, eating and barking again!  It has now been several months and Odis is running around and being his usual bad self!  I just wanted to let other people know that sometimes alternative medicine is a real life saver.  It made a believer out of me.

I worked for a chiropractor/accupuncture person and she would see her cat walking crooked, pick him up and do a chiro manipulation and off he would go. I think if it works for us, why not our pets for accupuncture and chiro adjustments. I had a chihuahua and I feel your love, anything to keep them safe and pain free

That is wonderful! sm - basset momma

I'm so happy to hear Odis is ok!! I've never taken my dogs to a vet like that, but I've been to the chiropractor and he has helped my back.

Odis is very lucky to have a mommy like you! :)

Odis is the Best, Worst Dog Ever! - Lucy

Thanks everyone! Odis is an SPCA rescue dog. He is so loving . . . to me. He is rather jealous when my girls come to visit and he barks at them constantly. That is why I call him my "Best, Worst Dog Ever!" My daughter went with me to the acupuncturist because she thought there was nothing that could be done for him and he was going to have to be to sleep. She knew it would break my heart. Now, when he barks and growls at her she tells him that he owes her his life because she drove us there! Odis retaliates by whizzing on her car tires! I told her that I was so proud of him because he can actually "hike" now! She called me a freak - - What's with that? After all, he is my only son. LOL!

I Think My Cat Saved Mine And My Son's Lives This MorningJan 09, 2014
My son is home for an extended visit and he sleepwalks. This morning about 6:30 my cat came in bugging me and kept lying on my head and wouldn't let me sleep and I finally woke up enough to figure out that the house was full of smoke (my smoke alarm didn't go off) and my son had gotten up in his sleep and put a frozen pizza in the oven on 450 and sat back down on the couch and the pizza was burning.  I had to use one of those silicone oven mits to get the pizza out and throw ...

Are Those "Obamacare Saved My Life" Stories Jan 19, 2017
As soon as Republicans took the first steps toward repealing ObamaCare, stories started popping up all over about how ObamaCare "saved my life." CNN ran an Op-Ed called "ObamaCare saved my life. What now?" and Salon one titled "ObamaCare saved my dad's life — and then he voted for Donald Trump." Another reported on how a "Sedona cancer survivor tells Paul Ryan: 'ObamaCare saved my life'." Huffington Post had a piece about how "ObamaCare Saved My Mom's Life." The list ...
