There actually was mention of his communist ties in the documentary, episode 2 and again in episode 3. They didn’t go into depth, but the inference was made, it would take another episode to address it. It’s obvious that he didn’t write for women. It seemed that throughout his life he had one wife and another waiting in the wings. Mental health issues and alcoholism were rampant in that family. Margaux Hemingway, one of the granddaughters, committed suicide and had a history of drug and alcohol abuse, she had a pretty successful modeling career. Mariel Hemingway the actress and another granddaughter, is now an advocate for people with mental health issues.
