From what the science says, the mask will decrease the chances of the virus spreading through droplets and/or possibly becoming airborne through a cough or a sneeze from an infected person, whether asymptomatic or otherwise, from Covid.
Mask wearers do it as much for the protection of others as for themselves. The more people get educated on how the virus is most easily spread and take control of their actions, the less cases of Covid there will be. But it really has to be a societal effort coming from genuine care and concern for each other as human beings, all differences set aside. Can we do that? I'm not so sure anymore...
