What I Learned at the Library - KillerAngel

If a mask-less infected patron sneezes on an open book (paper), the virus can be present for about 24 hours.

If a mask-less infected patron sneezes on a closed book with a Brodart (plastic-based) jacket, the virus can be present for up to 3 days.

If a mask-less infected patron sneezes on a DVD or CD (the case or the disc itself which are all plastic based), the virus can be present for up to 3 days.

If a mask-less infected patron sneezes in the library, the aerosol microdroplets can stay airborne for about 30 minutes before falling to whatever surface is underneath. Apparently, the exact amount of time may depend on the level of humidity and how stagnant the air is. The HVAC people recommend pulling in plenty of outside air rather than just continually recycling what you already have in the building (at least this is how engineering explained it to us. They also advised that with a heat index above 100, it was going to be difficult to keep the building temperature comfortable).

Chlorox-360 fogger-type disinfectants cannot be used on paper items. That warning is on the container.
