representatives involved in these hearings too, and there are transcripts available eventually of the hearings. The American public will know what has gone on and what has been talked about in the hearings. The main reason for the closed nature of the hearings is to protect the witnesses and the integrity of the hearing, so it does not become a media circus, which it would if it were open to the public.
