It was not illegal to belong to the American Communist Party when he carried out his personal 'purge.' Look it up. What he did was despicable, and he ruined a lot of good peoples' lives. He had the right motives??? He was eventually stopped because his motives were not so pure. On the other hand, maybe Trump et al are being targeted by the Dems because they've been accused of doing illegal things. There are even some moderate Republicans who can't abide their shenanigans. Sadly, though, they are in the minority. Justice will run its course and the 2020 elections may give us a course correction also.
