The more pressing question is did his waiting until after 2018 (and Dems having control of the House) help or hurt Trump?

I'd make the case that it actually helped Trump. With Dems in charge of the House investigations in their current deranged state of mind, the Trump investigations will continue. That's only going to help Trump. More investigations mean more exoneration.

Dems think more investigations will lead to some discovery of a crime. It won't.

1. Trump was a huge target for the Obama admin. That was an admin (as we've all seen) that had no issues weaponizing the IRS and other agencies against political enemies. They couldn't get Trump.

2. Trump had the money to hire people to keep his business dealings and taxes perfectly legal.

3. Trump made his money outside of politics. Unlike others in government, he had no reason to trade political favors in exchange for funding.

4. Trump knows he's under a microscope. He won't do anything in the future that could be considered corrupt.

They won't find anything. But the fact that they will keep looking will only help Trump.
