Do you not know how lawyers work? Good lawyers always play it safe. That's how they keep their clients and themselves out of legal jeopardy. People like Trump pay lawyers so they don't do illegal things. The fact that his lawyers threatened to quit just means he wasn't listening to them. They gave him an ultimatum and he backed down. This is typical "rich guy" behavior.
