When I started reading this, I expected an ending similar to another post I'd read recently.
A former coworker of mine had recently been dealing with Shingles that had made it to his eye. The outcome he'd been given was likely living with it the rest of his life. He'd been to urgent care, the ER, a private doctor, and he had an appointment scheduled with the V.A. on the 8th. He had received no assistance, pain meds or otherwise, and was hoping that the V.A. would help end the suffering.
Instead, he took his life on the 6th. Because he couldn't take it anymore. Because, even if he had held on what would the VA have done? They're notorious for doing nothing for more serious problems than Shingles.
A healthcare system that habitually makes it a point to not provide healthcare, instead commoditizing it, is not a healthcare system at all. It is a scam designed to take away our human right to life.
