This is for show, pointless, and stupid. Al Queda is a significant part of the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Saudi Arabia and their allies are fighting this on their own and most of the U.S. aid is weapons, not personnel. On its face the core of the resolution does not change U.S. involvement in Yemen in any meaningful way.
Back in December the Houthi rebels were asking for a deal. In Arab versus Arab conflicts that means they are losing. This resolution allows the Senate to look tough opposing Trump, over a conflict that is hopefully ending.
It also snubs our allies when they are on the edge of winning. So once again the U.S. is sending a message to the Middle East we can't be trusted.
