Look at it another way...

If the earth was warming, wouldn't 2018 be the hottest year on record?

Or imagine it on a graph:
2015 is hot.
2016 is hotter. (2016 is the hottest year so far.)
2017 is less hot than 2015.
2018 is less hot than 2017.

This makes 2018 the 4th hottest year on record. It also proves that the world is cooling, not heating up.
