have made a study of Aesop's fables and knew what the grasshopper/ant reference meant. I attended 8 years of Catholic primary school, 4 years of Catholic high school, and 2 years of secular college. Not once was Aesop a field of study. I don't believe everyone has to be steeped in the study of Aesop to achieve cultural cohesion. Lots of people get their moral education through religious and bible study. You just happen to be familiar with Aesop's fables, but that doesn't mean everybody is.
