I went to the ER with a small dog bite which left gapping fatty tissue. I was left with this open dirty wound for an hour and then brought into the room and waited another hour. It was cleaned by a large male nurse rather roughly and I became concerned when the ER physician began to suture wound closed without any anesthetic, topical or injected. I requested some. He said, “the stick will hurt as much as the sewing needle.” And I said, “it may hurt after you are finished.” He injected area with lidocaine and immediately commenced to sewing me up, failing to allow the anesthetic to take effect. Male nurse (6.5) held me down and left 2 finger mark bruises on my arm, while he held me down in the chair while wound was being closed. They...no topical antibiotic or swabs or bandaides. It was really weird. I have been a patient and a hospital worker for 30 years. Never seen anything like it. I made noise.
