I'm sorry, but I don't have a defeatist attitude like this. It depends on what you mean by success. You don't have to be dependent on corporations to be successful.

Think outside of the box. Why go into debt with some student loan? Why not learn from an apprentice program? My point is you make your own opportunity.

I know a 50 YO woman who built her own house, lives off the grid, grows her own food, and is completely debt free.

This is what is meant by American culture. It's a can-do attitude.
