We FINALLY joined the rest of the world fighting the Nazis AFTER the Lusitania was sunk after leaving America with 1200+ Americans onboard, the Lusitania left port 3 hours late and missed their British naval escort to try and make it through the water heavily patrolled by German U boats that were sinking anything that moved through those waters. Hitler didn't want England, he was intent on obliterating it. Germans still don't like Brits it goes back to the sanctions enacted by US, England, and France (and the rest of Europe - for context think Iran) after WWI, Hitler promised to make Germany great again. My dad fought in WWII, actually ALL my uncles were in the service. My mom's twin's first husband (my dad's buddy) went down in France and is buried in a mass grave - at another uncle's 90th Bday party after her 2nd husband had died, she fnially talked about and told Joel's story. He was flying extra missions with random crews (not his) to get to a 30-day leave sooner that he was going to spend with my aunt and my cousin who was an infant when he shipped out. I came home from high school one day and told my mom I didn't see how nobody (including ppl in America and certainly German ppl) knew what was going on all over Europe. I had seen maps in Time and Newsweek for some anniversary of something-Day, I can't remember exactly. But you couldn't sling a dead cat in Europe without hitting a concentration camp, maybe not a death camp but a work camp, where they used Jews for slave labor and worked them without nutrition or protection from the cold until their bodies wore out and they died. They were used in German factories, Volkswagen was one of the factories. These camps weren't out in the middle of nowhere, Auschwitz, I think, was next to a factory. When I said this to my mom, 30+ years after WWII, she got scared, yes SCARED, and told me Hitler used to experiment on Twins (which she was an identical twin). My mother was SCARED of Hitler. and 35 years later, she was still afraid. You don't know what you're talking about. America did this huge favor for Eruope and they aren't grateful enough - it was a joint effort to win a dog fight or be wiped out by Hitler, Mussolini, and Hiro Hito.
It took the whole world twice to fight Germany and get her under control. the second time around Japan didn't join everyone else. It took EVERYBODY and the main ppl who fought with America, just like in Korea and Vietnam, is England, Australia, and Canada.
You may not be aware of this but before America joined in WWII, Americans went to UK and Canada to join their military to fight this monster.
The WHOLE reason behind NATO was to have an alliance of the Allied Forces, to protect freedom around the world because it's a whole lot easier being a democracy when there are other democracies out there on the side of freedom. If it were just America fighting all by herself, she might not make it.
Those are our allies, allies we need to keep Russia under control, allies Russia would LOVE to separate us from, oh and look, we are. And Allied Forces is what was fighting Germany. Allies are handy to have around.

The only time we've fought Communism (we did nothing for Greece) was in Korea and Truman did that b/c he didn't want to see Russia kill the security council that had just been formed (and challenged) oh and the only reason she didn't KILL it, was b/c communications back then were very, very slow and teh russian delegates wouldn't vote without being told how to vote and they would have voted against helping S. Korea after N. korea invaded. china offered Truman 30,000 troops which Truman said no thanks to. US was the main force, even outnumbered the S. Korea forces. MacArthur had rebuilt Japan and was placed in charge, he ran his mouth and talked about going all the way up into China, when that was never Truman's intent. Like they recently did when Trump shot off his mouth, they massed troops on the Chinese border and eventually US was fighting the Chinese in N. Korea. That was to stop Communism. And we did it to protect American interests and the security council. Truman did not want to see it fail on it's very first challenge.
China is the largest exporter in the world. US is the second largest (b/c of agriculture), German is the third largest exporter and Japan is the fourth.
This trade war that Trump has started is going to hurt American farmers and workers and more than likely will raise interest rates even more, so if you have a lot of cash to invest, bonus. Remember the 1980s when the prime interest rate was 13.5%. A CD for less than 10,000 dollars, for a term of less than 5 years, was drawing 13.5% interest in 1983. Home loans were also 18% interest, credit cards and car loans were even MORE ridiculous - that's why there were no jobs. Companies could expand, interest was too high. The only ppl happy were ppl who had cash to invest.
