Obama can't stop lying about guns, as he touts phony - 18 school shooting stat.

Gun Control: During a keynote speech in Washington, D.C., Barack Obama started talking about guns, and repeated the completely bogus claim that Parkland, Fla., was the 18th school shooting this year. It's hardly the first time Obama has peddled blatant falsehoods to push gun control.

"If you ask me the thing that broke my heart, particularly when now I see there have been, and I've gotta update this," Obama said, "18 shootings in schools this year ... this year!" The Washington Examiner first noticed his quote.

This is wrong every which way.

IBD was one of the first news outlets to explain that the "18 school shootings" claim — which was being parroted by every major press outlet after the Parkland shooting — was bogus. The number was made up by a gun control advocacy site, which arrived at 18 only by including such things as a suicide in the parking lot of a school that had been closed for months, stray bullets fired near a college campus, a police officer's weapon going off accidentally, after-hours fights in school parking lots, etc.

Not only did Obama repeat this phony statistic, but he didn't even have the gun control group's updated number. By the time Obama gave his speech, Everytown for Gun Safety listed 27 "school shootings" for this year.

The new entries, not surprisingly, are just as bogus as the previous ones, including, for example, a false report of a gun being fired at a school.
