The family I donated to asked for such simple things - household items like laundry detergent, canned food, camping supplies, board games and art supplies. I was so honored to help them but yes, I've seen completely unrealistic requests. There was a family whose kids asked for expensive video games ($60 each) or designer purses and clothes, steaks and lobster. You really do have to be careful.
