Give to ANY charities anymore. After some major disasters like hurricanes and such, and learning that donations never reached the needy, I declined to participate in any charities at all, as the proceeds rarely go where they need to go. It is an insult for those of us who sympathize with those in need and want to do something to help. Unfortunately, some of these "charities" help themselves first, and that is just not right. I may donate "items" to the local humane society, but not cash, but that is about it. I just lost trust in anything and anyone, any longer, and that is truly a sad way to live!
