You must of read my post wrong. - Grandma

Please know that I am not judging anyone. Did you read my post? People nowadays just seem to read the headlines or only skim through the posts. My post was about how different life is nowadays from the way I was raised. No one, and I mean no one, from my generation lived together before marriage. Lots of babies were born 6 or 7 months after marriage, but we all just kind of said, oh well. They were married and that was that.

I was not NOT JUDGING anyone from today. I was COMPARING my generation to my childrens' generation where NO ONE gets married before living together and lots of babies being born with only two couples out of 16 in my immediate family of next generation (kids, nephews, nieces) got married before having a baby.

Like many grandparents, we have had to come to terms with accepting this new reality. My point though is that is so, so different from what my parents would accept. I love my grandkids and would never, ever tell my DIL's that they were sl**s for choosing to not get married. They are not. They are wonderful mothers and accomplished women who just do not want to stay home and raise kids and be married and a housewife. Hence, I get to babysit a lot.

However, in my day, you were a ruined girl if you had a baby without being married. In fact, you could not even attend high school anymore if you were pregnant. They sent you to a special home to have the baby and you had very little choice of keeping the baby. I can think of two girls who had babies in high school. Both were quietly married and had to quit school. Nowadays, girls continue to go to high school and pursue an education even with a baby.
