"You did not build that"
Posted: Aug 16, 2012
Here's one instance of fallout from an ill-conceived statement by the president:
This small business owner, who did build his business, declined the invite to have Joe Biden make a photo op stop there. Later, some of the Secret Service detail came back to thank the shop owner for not allowing the visit and bought a bunch of cupcakes and other food items. Local residents also rallied to support him and bought him out of food by early afternoon. Isn't America great?

He didn't want to support Obama et.al. Why is that propaganda? - Not familiar with principles?

is the flat out Romney et al lie of "you didn't build that." It has been very well documented that Romney's commercial and what Romney himself has said about the subject was misleading, to say the least. So, in other words, Mr. Cupcake just bought into the lie (propaganda) and probably never knew any better. I guess if you say it loud and say it enough, people will take it as truth. Dust off those history books and see when and how this tactic was used and by whom.
I just slightly disagree - A Joe the Plumber moment

This guy just wants to make a point where he gets his 15 minutes of publicity. He was no doubt a Republican sheep before and will remain one after. Probably just like Ayn Rand, he will put down the programs that have made America great like Social Security and Medicare, but grab it when he realizes that he was wrong all along and is dying on his sick bed and needs that medical care and subsistence income.

the more he went on, the more it was clear that that was exactly what he meant. No, you'd like to tell yourselves he meant a teacher who helped you along the way, and all that pie in the sky crap, but that's not what he said. Listen again, only try to keep your mind open this time.

Contact the Office of Open Enrollment (AKA Kum and Git Yur Ehjookashun) for more info on their remedial, accelerated and fast-track curricula, flexible scheduling options, and the latest tuition/fees hikes, instituted in response to Ryan's budget austerity measures (HR-Deep 6).
Unfortunately, no financial assistance is available but, in keeping with recent higher-education trends, the College's exercise of it's privilege to maintain expense curves, wider and more expansive than the Pacific Ocean, is to be expected. We reserve the right to combine class sections that enable future lay-offs of even our best instructors and professors, that may result in lecture halls filled to their 1000+ rafter capacities. Late applicants are allowed to opt for standing-room only, with extra penalty fees tacked on to encourage more timely future enrollments.

These calling-out posts are so very lame. These posters will push and shove for posts on end, but if a lib responds, they go "SNARK STARTS HERE" "MODERATOR - PERSONAL ATTACK". I wonder what would happen if we posted "DIRECT PUB QUOTE" every time we needed a reason to justify ourselves. For the purpose of this post I am changing my moniker to see what I get called.

political fact check site says regarding "you did not build that":
In speeches and videos, the Romney campaign has repeatedly distorted Obama's words. By plucking two sentences out of context, Romney twists the president's remarks and ignores their real meaning.
The preceding sentences make clear that Obama was talking about the importance of government-provided infrastructure and education to the success of private businesses.
Romney also conveniently ignores Obama's clear summary of his message, that "the point is ... that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together."
By leaving out the "individual initiative" reference, Romney and his supporters have misled viewers and given a false impression. For that, we rate the claim False.
Spin, a little too late - cat's out of the bag.

Yep - They sure took out of context Romney - comments about "not worrying about the poor

and completely left off the rest of the comment that the poor had a safety net, but if they needed ADDITIONAL help it should be made available until such they were able to stand on their own. I watched the entire interview, and Dems lied about it for weeks. Obama is the Liar in Chief..only thing Obama excels at.

see them from her house. They say she's got a lot of time on her hands these days after being overlooked for a key role at the RNC, so I'm sure she'd be more than happy to go dialing for transcripts, et al, using her direct line to the lord. I hear she has unlimited minutes. Isn't THAT special?
BTW, recent polls show that 62% of all us "small-minded" voters out here (off Mr. Nowhere's radar screen) want to see those confounded returns. I can't find any data on how many small-minded folks want to see the dog. Maybe you could help out with that.

quit her 2.5-year day job as Governor of Alaska, invoke good ole American ingenuity and exceptionalism, and invent several brand-new, mighty lucrative careers: Stand-up comedian, lifetime resident in Fox's failed GOP pols pasture, and even her bold adventure into the world of books were she holds a niche spot on Wal-Mart's 75%-off pricebusters table.
But her good fortune doesn't end there. Her high-profile victimhood has also catapulted her daughter into an exciting reality-TV gig, and even helped her dead-beat-dad/ex-SIL get extensive lamestream media coverage/uncoverage, that includes an impressive Playgirl photo portfolio, access to the late-night-talk-show circuit (where he blabbed to his heart's content), and generously made way for HIS book to share the pricebuster's table. I'd love to see him stumping for Joe-the-Plumber-Wannabe/Handyman this fall but, alas, I doubt Samuel J is willing to risk the wrath.
Good for Obama quitting his 3-second job as Senator - Bad for America

derp :D A 9-year-old can reason that out. Ask one.
Don't you mean 3 x 39,888,000 seconds - in the US senate +
[ In Reply To ..]
another 246,326,400 seconds on the state level? That's a grand total of 365,990,400 realtime seconds as "senator," making your estimate off by more than 11 years + 195 days, give or take. Furthermore, just like Palin, Obama ran for higher office before his elected position term was up because the country could not endure one more second of botched GOP rule. He left his senate seat to serve as POTUS/Commander-in-Chief of our nation.
Sarah Palin failed to reach higher office, and was able to return to her governorship, but "elected" to abandon her consituents in pursuit of much loftier goals, such as those enumerated in the previous post, a decision motivated by her self-serving desire to aspire to star celebrity status.
You do the math. Surely you aren't trying to suggest there is some sort of far-fetched parallel here, are you?

On the contrary. I'll be forever grateful to SP for all the fodder she's provided over these past 5 years for satirical ridicule, which she so richly deserves. It's a mutually beneficial relationship. She gets the bucks, and I get the yuks. Works out rather nicely for both of us.
So would Obama - his voice is getting shriller yelling about it. LOL (sm) - Aunt Sue
