What, nothing about Newt? Tsk, Tsk

Posted: Jun 11, 2011

I come here hoping to get a few laughs over the reptile man's bad luck and zip, zilch, nada. Y'all are slipping!;

No slipping. It's been covered. Read my post from 06/05. As I said before, he was done when he threw Ryan under the bus.

Happy to hear that, and - Lithmus test

now that the cons are going after Social Security, they have another non-negotiable demand to use when holding their candidates' feet to the fire. They have chosen to attempt dismantling two of the most popular social programs ever enacted. Without a doubt, their intransigence on these issues will marginalize seniors and soon-to-be seniors, a sizeable chunk of their voting bloc base, who they are targeting with this double whammy.

For democrats, it's like striking gold, and we haven't even begun our journey down the campaign trail. They could never get this boondoggle off the ground in 2005 and with Boomers 6 years closer to retirement in 2011-12, it is destined to fail once again. Some folks just never know when to quit.

Way to go, cons. Keep 'em coming.

The only thing I agree with you on is - sm

when you said, "Some folds just never know when to quit." Obama obviously hasn't learned when to quit spending money we don't have. Our economy is gonna double dip, gas prices are up, we have 3 wars going on with us in Iraq, Afghan and now Libya. We have devalued or dollar and I'm sure everyone on this board has noticed that the prices at the grocery store are higher.

As for the highly popular social security run by our government.....even though I'm still paying into it with each paycheck...IT WON'T BE THERE WHEN I BECOME OF AGE TO RECEIVE IT...why...because politicians have dipped into it and there won't be any money left after we pay for all the baby boomers. Just another example of using up more money than we have.

Obama doesn't have the 2012 election in the bag. Too many Americans feel like our country is headed in the wrong direction and since Obama is leading us...well shouldn't he be held responsible. You can blame Bush all you want but I've seen very little recovery with a looming double deep in the near future and Bush hasn't been president for quite some time now. But hey.....good thing we wasted all that money on those stimulus packages because I don't know what we'd do if unemployment went above 8%...oh wait....we are above 8%.

BARACK OBAMA = EPIC FAILURE AS PRESIDENT! Look out Jimmy Carter...you are about to be dethroned as the worst president ever!
No problem. - Time will tell.

There is a difference between a gold mine and a bagged election. Never said that. Fact is these tiresome Obama digressions have nothing to do with GOPs penchant for self-sabotaging policy initiaties or the disastrous state their 2012 candidate vetting process is in. If you want to discuss Obama, Bush, Carter or whatever, perhaps separate threads would be the way to go.
I was merely trying to point out - sm

that Obama doesn't have the right answers for our country either. The fact of the matter is that SOMETHING has got to be done somewhere or there won't be anything left for anyone. I hear the same talking points over and over again with democrats...Republicans want to hurt old people. Well if anyone read Obamacare carefully you will see that medicare will lose money with that. As for social security...if we are smart...we will all start saving our own money because the money we paid into social security WILL NOT be there when I retire. So obviously something has got to be done.

Since you hate the way republicans are going about it and I'm obviously not allowed to point out Obama's failings at handling it....perhaps you have a solution. If so, do tell. I'm shaking with anticipation.
Had SS been privatized when the market crashed - we all would have to press reset

If you feel more secure with private accounts for your retirement funds, no one is stopping you. By all means, go for it. Now, read my lips: The GOP will privatize MY Social Security OVER MY DEAD BODY.

Policies that affect all of us who aspire to old age and retirement should not be based on myth. If you are looking for plans and solutions, this ain't it. Here is a fact for you to mull over. Dismantling Medicare and Social Security comes with a 100% guarantee to hurt seniors, period. This is not a talking point, it is stone cold reality for those of among us who are already there or standing at the threshold. No problem with streamlining, cutting waste, improving efficiency, etc. Otherwise, hands off!

As a conservative...Newt is nothing - so I pay him no mind.

News about him is unimportant to me because I feel he has no chance in he11 of getting the GOP nomination for president. To mention all his shortfalls is just a waste of time because I cannot believe that anyone would seriously consider him a good choice for presidential candidate. Just saying.

I agree. To me he's like SP - Conservative gal

I have no idea what's going on with them, because they won't be running and I have other things to do with my time. It's a waste of time to even focus on them. Same with Bachman too. They are not viable candidates and either will drop out or not even come close, or like SP, is not even running. I will focus my time on real candidates and real issues.

I'm also learning not to spend my time reading all the nasty messages here when people are talking about conservative candidates. If people enjoy being nasty to conservatives, then more power to them. I cannot understand why people get such enjoyment out of cutting down others because of who they agree with for political candidates. There is no reason or sanity to it.

I will be looking forward to hearing who the real republican candidate will be.

I have to say I liked Herman Cain, but I saw him interviewed the other day and I was a little disappointed. I hope he gets stronger on some issues. As for his questions on the economy and how he would handle things I think he's right on, but other issues I was disappointed. So, if there is no good candidate looks like I won't be voting.

Going off about Saul Alinski, community organizing thugs not voters, blah blah.  I would welcome his candidacy because all that gibberish was judged by Americans last time and deemed rubbish. Mittens released tax returns.  I dont expect much scandal, he seems to be upstanding in regards to the law, just personally carrion seeking. I think Newt is doing all this (with the aid of the Las Vegas guy with $5 billion) just so he can ride on that dang presidental airplane in the seat of ...

Crowd cheering at his outrage of wasting debate minutes?  Hello . . .  Newt was at the forefront of the 2-year waste of time spent hounding Clinton with impeachment all the while boofing dear Caligula in his wife's marital bed. Newt was principle behind shutting the whole govt down in a fit of pique. Wake up people.  It is simply not worth taking the whole country down because you fear the intelligence of democrats.  Don't be afraid. . . we don't ...

Newt Gingrich and "the food stamp president" He didn't call Obama a "strapping young buck," but his slur is coded racism (and not very Catholic) just the same By Joan Walsh AP Newt Gingrich doubled down on his clever new slur against President Obama as "the food stamp president." He tried the line in a Friday speech to the Georgia Republican convention, and he used it again on "Meet the Press Sunday." It's a short hop from Gingrich's slur to Ronald Reagan's attac ...
