This just irritated me

Posted: Jul 16, 2012

Today is the first day I turned on Fox in probably 2 or 3 months, but was eating lunch at this time and thought I'd see what they were talking about.  It was Shep Smith talking bout Zimmerman and I was so disgusted by what he said.  The guy is on trial for the murder of Martin.  But no, they don't talk about that, they try and taint the viewers with this bull-oney about some girl saying he raped/abused her when he was 8 years old and then she went on to say he's a racist.  First, she doesn't have any proof of any of what she said.  It would be like me telling someone a rumor.  Second this has nothing to do with the case he is going up for.  Then Shep says "her allegations have not been verified yet".  I'm sitting yelling at the TV saying "if they haven't been verified yet its just a rumor and what are you spreading rumors for all  the country to hear so they can judge him on something that has nothing to do with the trial.  Listening to the girls speak she didn't sound truthful.  Reminded me of what my kids sound like when they are telling me a lie and they know its one, they start stuttering and pausing like they are making it up as they go along.  I hope they throw this juror out and dismiss what she said.  She evidently has it out for him and I hope he gets a new judge.  The one on the case is not going to treat him fairly.

Just urked me so much that Fox is spouting some garbage to the whole country when they know it hasn't been verified.

The only reason they were talking about it is - because she is supposedly

a witness (I think they called her witness #9). I think it was the prosecution that released the tape - like you I was so mad about it that I tuned out, but then I saw it on Yahoo when I got online, too.

Lester set a 2nd bond after GZ conspired with his wife - to commit perjury,

[ In Reply To ..]
misled the court AND his own defense attorney about his financial status, and had numerous phone conversations with the missus about hiding his 2nd passport in a safe place. I'm sorry, but from where I sit, Judge Lester has bent over backwards being fair to the shooter and alleged child molester/racist.

BTW, GZ's is alleged racism is pivotal to whether or not his stand-your-ground defense will stand up to the scrutiny of the court. The perp has a severe self-inflicted wound to his overall credibility that has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with Judge Lester's capacity to be impartial or fair. The motion to recuse is nothing but legal theater that only draws MORE attention to the fact that GZ allowed his wife to lie like a dog in court.

The judge needs to stay put and the court needs to hear ALL the testimony from ALL parties. That's what a fair trial looks like.

FBI put out a report stating they found NO evidence - Zimmerman racially profiled !! nm

Witness #9's testimony will be heard in court alongside - the FBI report findings

[ In Reply To ..]
Apparently the FBI missed at least ONE piece of evidence to the contary. Perhaps had the records been unsealed sooner, their conclusions may have been different. In February 2012 the FBI raided the wrong apartment in Massachusetts in a botched guns and drug bust after a two year investigation. They cut through the front door with a chainsaw and apprehended a single mom and her dog while her terrorized 3-year old cried out for her in the other room. In Florida, the FBI withheld information from the Florida Highway Patrol that one of their agents had been drinking prior to driving the wrong way down I95, resulting in a double-fatality head-on collision. Google Steve Hatfill and read about how many times the FBI accused the wrong person in the anthrax investigations back in 2001. The link below details how "hundreds" of convictions that resulted in protracted prison sentences and even executions were later found to be flawed by shotty FBI forensics and how the exculpatory evidence was withheld from the defendants by prosecutors.

The defense will do everything in its power to discredit witness #9 but, by the looks of things, the prosecution will not come up short-handed when it comes to casting reasonable doubt on the FBI's report findings. Their job will be to present a preponderance of that evidence that supports their racism allegations. The burden of proof is on them but, at the same time, it may be easier for them to prove GZ is a racist than for the defense to prove he's not. Time will tell.

Once again, a fair trial involves hearing ALL evidence from ALL parties, followed by a hope and a prayer that justice will pevail. Whether it's this case or any number of other pending stand-your-ground assault, homicide, manslaughter and/or murder defenses, because of the high profile of Trayvon Martin's death, this law will be subjected to close scrutiny every time it is used. The NRA and it's supporters will never succeed in justifying hate, vigilante and revenge crimes committed under the cloak of this obviously deeply flawed law just for the sake of selling more weapons, arming more citizens and promoting this perverted version of 2nd Amendment rights. Case in point would be the recent conviction in Texas of Raul Rodriguez, who deliberately tried to set up a stand-your-ground defense (modeled on recent coverage of the Trayvon Martin case) right in the middle of murdering his nextdoor neighbor.

Bad law. Close scrutiny. Suspended state legislative initiatives. Grass roots movements to overturn similar existing statutes. These are all part of the other side of the story gun hugging extremists will never be able to bully into submissive silence. That train already left the station.

If Lester allowed release of the tape - and phone calls
[ In Reply To ..]
what makes you think none of that will ever be heard in court? He evidently feels #9's statement and the phone calls are pertinent to the case.

I saw one of the prosecution attorneys interviewed yesterday (sorry, don't remember his name). He said the contents of her statement (both the racist comments and the sexual molestation) "go to character" and that she very well may be called to testify as a character witness. Now that her statements have been made public, I suspect there are efforts underway by the prosecution to prepare supporting evidence in the event they decide to call her to testify.

To suggest the defendant's character doesn't count and racism is not an issue in this case is wildly naive wishful thinking. If O'Mara tries to introduce the FBI report, you can bet your bottom dollar the prosecution will not hestate to call her and any objections O'Mara has will be overruled.

Don't bash FOX, when I read it on CNN.com - MT

Just because you saw it on fox, why do you assume that they are the only station reporting on it and then post it on here as if it is only Fox news portraying this garbage? As the above poster stated, they saw it on yahoo and I saw it on CNN.com so don't go bashing fox before you know where else it is!

That's not what I meant - - something I saw on Fox

[ In Reply To ..]
I didn't assume Fox was the only station reporting it. I don't care about CNN or MSNBC as I wasn't watching their station. It's not one of these everyone else said it so I can too. What I'm saying is they were wrong for reporting something that has nothing to do with the case he is on trial for. The child molestation thing when he was a child. That would be a whole different case. Since he didn't molest the kid he shot her claims of being molested are nothing but to taint everyone's opinion of him. After all why not plant in their heads he's a child molester then everyone will hate him and convict him of something he might not have done. Besides she has no proof this happened (at least that is what Smith said). Same with the allegations of racism. She had no proof he said what she said he said. Also, the fact that she seemed to be stumbling and sounded like she was making it up as she went along. I'll bet any money she either knew Trayton or had her mind set ahead of time she wanted him to be guilty, so hey, why not make up stuff to really get people to hate him before his trial begins. Happens all the time. My point was that they (Fox or anyone else) is reporting here say. They are planting in people minds hey he "might" have molested her (though nobody can prove it) and hey he "might" have said some racial things (again they have no proof, so lets get everyone to hate this guy so much he'll go to jail whether or not he's guilty of the crime he is on trial for. The guy shot the kid. I don't know if it was on purpose or in self defense. I haven't seen enough evidence or heard everything they are hearing in the investigation, but Fox and everyone else should know better than to report something that is heresay and has nothing to do with this case. First confirm whether or not this happened. Then if it did and it is linked to the case, then report it.

Yes, thank you spelling police for pointing out my spelling error - I did mean "hear"

I'll just chalk it up to yet one other person in my life who has pointed out I made a spelling error.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I promise never ever to spell a word wrong in the future, so the spelling police won't feel the need to correct me.
Actually, "hear say" is one word. - nm

Hadn't you heard? - Witness #9 is Zimmerman's cousin.

[ In Reply To ..]
One might imagine that a family member has unique and valuable insight to contribute to the trial that other (ear)witnesses would lack. To be sure, she will not be the only character witness called during these proceedings. I think we can both agree that Zimmerman's attorney is not the only one who is authorized to present such evidence.

From available information, it does not appear #9 even lived in Florida, since she claims most of the incidents occurred on visits to Zimmerman relatives in Virginia. She says only one incident happened when she was in Florida. Trayvon, who lived in Miami Gardens, was visiting his noncustodial dad at his fiance's residence, who lives in Sanford, 240 miles north of Miami. This is also where George Zimmerman and his dad live. That would mean that Witness #9 would have been visiting her Florida family in Sanford, not Miami. If #9 ever did live in Florida, it's logical that it was not in Miami, but rather in Sanford where the rest of the clan resides. That would make your speculation that she "knew" Trayvon highly unlikely, since he only had visited the Sanford place a couple of times in the 4 years Tracy Martin leased it, prior to the night Trayvon was shot dead 70 yards from the back door of the townhouse.

Witness #9 came forward the week prior to March 20 (the day the statement was recorded), according to what the police officer interviewing her said. The parents heard the (ear)witness tapes for the first time on March 16. Obviously, #9 came forward at the same time the entire story was getting national media attention for the first time, and a full 3 weeks before the shooter was taken into custody and formal charges were filed. The timeline would tend to blow your claim that she was probably "planted" by the prosecution (or whomever the nebulous "they" might be) out of the water, since at the time there were no charges and the police were steadily messaging that none were forthcoming since they took Zimmerman's claims of self defense as gospel truth.

Now, about that "shakey voice" and "making it up as she goes along" thing. For all we know, her statement to the police could very well have been the first time she ever spoke of the 10 YEARS of sexual assaults she claims happened to her, beginning at age 6. I was in a 10-year physically abusive marriage as a middle-aged adult that did not involve sexual violence and which ended in 1990. Even though it has been 22 years, to this day I am not able to speak of the frequent domestic violence and relentless verbal abuse without being reduced to racking sobs and being plagued by PTSD triggers for weeks, if not months, after talking about it. This is the case despite the fact that I underwent extensive psychiatric and psychological counseling and treatment for 14 months in the aftermath of the abuse, have been on anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications ever since, and have told the story scores of times over the years to different people.

It comes as no surprise to me that a young woman in her mid-20s (who may or may not have ever told the story, let alone sought treatment for the inevitable emotional fall-out following long-term abuse) would sound "shakey" and unsure of herself when talking to police about being sexually molested for 10 YEARS, during the course of a criminal investigation where her own cousin (and perpetrator) is being charged with 2nd degree murder. I would add that I take this blame-the-victim predisposition very personally and find it highly offensive. This woman has not even appeared in court or testified in the case, yet she is being disparaged, diminished and dismissed by those serving questionable underlying politcal agendas, all the while decrying what they perceive to be media bias and judicial prejudice, and screaming about how unfair the poor perp is being treated. Please, give me a break.

This is precisely why so many victims of sexual or physical abuse (especially children) NEVER come forward. Just take a look at the recent tragic Sandusky spectacle, or the Catholic boys who suffered in silence all those years behind predatory priests and the hierarchy who sheltered and enabled them.

Just my opinion... - OKMT

This is just MY opinion...we all have one and this is mine...I don't care whether Martin was black, white, Chinese, Indian, Mexican...what Zimmerman did was WRONG. To me, it's not about race. If Zimmerman is a racist, that really sucks. But the 911 dispatcher specifically told him they do NOT need him following Martin and to wait for police. I saw a guy walking down my street the other day whom I had never seen before. I am also a part of our neighborhood watch. I watched him from the privacy of my yard and he went into a house up the street. Come to find out, he's a visiting grandpa of the family up the street. Just because someone "looks out of place" doesn't mean they are a bad guy. In my opinion, Zimmerman has sealed his own fate by being deceitful. Then again, it is Florida...where Casey Anthony was acquitted of something she absolutely shouldn't have been. Anyway, hope I didn't ruffle any feathers...it's just my opinion and I respect everyone elses so I hope mine is also respected :) Have a wonderful day!

He will NEVER get a fair trial - never..

I'm so irritated right now I just have to vent.  Yesterday while on my way home from my sister's, we stopped at a national chain grocery store for gas.  We had earned the reward points by shopping at our local store and figured since we needed gas and it was the last day to use the discount, we'd just fill up at this store.  I had my most recent receipt, which showed that I had 300 points and that it equaled 60-cent discount per gallon.  We swiped our rewards ...

Irritated With WaitingNov 14, 2012
Okay, so I have finished all of my acute care course except for the externship.  Now, why have I had to wait for 8 days, thus far, just sitting for the company to let me be a part of this?  I cannot get my certificate or look for a "real job" until this is completed.  I am questioning their integrity and would appreciate any prayers sent my way that this process would be sped up. ...
