There goes the neighborhood...

What an ignorant man!

No more Little Italy, Little Havana, Koreatown, Chinatown, etc.

It must be sad living a life where you can't appreciate the uniqueness of people and culture and instead have to lump them all together.

The USA is truly becoming the new USSR.

Info--AFFH--bringing amenities to those - communities mentioned

Why will Little Italy, Little Havana, et cetera be ruined by parks and grocery stores?

The regulations would use grant money as an incentive for communities to build affordable housing in more affluent areas while also taking steps to upgrade poorer areas with better schools, parks, libraries, grocery stores and transportation routes as part of a gentrification of those communities. That's not it at all. They want to move the poor into wealthier neighborhoods - Truthhurts

Will they be moving the rich into poorer neighborhoods while moving the poor into rich neighborhoods or will it only be one-sided? It's been tried before and didn't work.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has proposed a new plan to change U.S. neighborhoods it says are racially imbalanced or are too tilted toward rich or poor, arguing the country's housing policies have not been effective at creating the kind of integrated communities the agency had hoped for.

The proposed federal rule, called "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing," is currently under a 60-day public comment period. Though details of how the policy would specifically work are unclear, the rule says HUD would provide states, local governments and others who receive agency money with data and a geospatial tool to look at "patterns of integration and segregation; racially and ethnically concentrated areas of poverty; access to education, employment, low-poverty, transportation, and environmental health."

How is that "not it at all" when your link gives information about the exact same thing the poster said, the AFFH... "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing," except that your information is almost 2 years old now when the plan was just in the comment stage and being formulated.

It's exactly the same except way, way past the 60-day public comment stage now and not remotely a "new plan" anymore, being that it's almost 2 years later.

It's a GRANT program that provides GRANT money to encourage communities to provide affordable housing and greater access to community resources. Grant. Program........ Wow, the fear-and-smear propaganda machine must be in overdrive scaring the fraidy and scairdy gullible masses who buy into their rhetoric and fear-and-smear drivel with wild tales of their communities being forced to take GRANT money. LOL!

To start with "they" aren't moving anyone - if the rich would like to move

into poorer neighborhoods, I don't think there is currently anything preventing that.

The proposal is to promote housing by grant outside of poor, economically distressed areas and/or improving the economically distressed areas.

The conspiracy theory just isn't in this.

Think of the ramifications of this. Let's start with Pelosi's neighborhood - and build a project there,

then move on to Boston and New York where politicians live. A good place to start. I read about this plan several years ago. The next 18 months are going to be interesting, as Obama's term ends.

There's more to come, America.

I read about this in 2011. More fundamentally - transforming America. We

spent almost $30 billion in 2012 on Section 8 housing, 60% of the HUD budget. This is just another way of redistributing wealth done in the guise of health and compassion. This is part of "Opening Doors" agenda.

If you like your neighborhood, you can keep - your neighborhood! nomsg

Neighborhood WatchesApr 26, 2014
I'm just looking for some opinions on so-called organized (or general) neighborhood watches. When we leave town for more than a day or so, I tell just my immediate neighbors. With all good intentions, one of them said, "Oh, okay. I'll tell everybody I know." I asked her not to do that, that I just wanted a few people who lived nearby to know in case they saw something "funny." I don't think it's a good idea for the whole neighborhood to know. All it takes is one errant kid ...

Our neighborhood watch program is out of control. Our neighborhood is approximately 1 square mile with 1700 lots that is located in a rural/unincorporated area and is about 12 miles from any shopping district. It is in a low-crime area and we are controlled by an HOA. Our neighborhood watch committee waits in their vehicles on street corners in and outside of our neighborhood taking notes of the comings and goings of the residents. They take shifts and patrol the neighborhood on foot day and nig ...

Sad Week - One Of Our Friendly Neighborhood Cats Is GoneAug 26, 2015
We live in a neighborhood and a lot of cats come and go through our yard.  For the past 4 years or so a neighbors cat has been a constant visitor.  During the cold winter nights she would come over and sleep in the boxes with blankets and an outdoor pet heating pad.  She also would eat here too when she was not at her own place.  Actually all of our neighbors take care of all of the cats so that none ever go hungry or don't have a place to get out of the cold.  So f ...
