Repubican Incontinence

Posted: Oct 20, 2012

The leaking Republicans need to invest in some Depends it seems.  House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R- Calif.) has come under fire after posting "snsitive but unclassifed" State Department cables.  In the Republican zeal to attack everything Obama, they wear blinders to everything else.

The documents relate to the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.   Issa has apparently of endangered the safety of Libyans working with the U.S. government, whose names were not redacted from the report:

Much like WikiLeaks, when you dump a bunch of documents into the ether, there are a lot of unintended consequences," an administration official told The Cable Friday afternoon. "This does damage to the individuals because they are named, danger to security cooperation because these are militias and groups that we work with and that is now well known, and danger to the investigation, because these people could help us down the road.

If so, then you remember concern on the part of several committee members about the classification of documents, including a map, and were assured by the witnesses that everything had been declassified or was in the process of being declassified. Jason Chaffetz was particularly upset about it. Elijah Cummings got his knickers in a twist over the concern.

The disclosure wouldn't have happened at all - were the committee

not in such a hurry to dig up dirt they think might help the R camp in November. With two other investigations still underway, there is no way the committee can get the full picture on which to base any valid conclusions until those processes finished. The carelessness that allows for such oversights and "whoops" moments undermines the integrity of its process and the overall credibility of its motives. It's a disgusting display of mindless partisanship the families of those killed in the attack find appalling.

They certainly are not going to come up with anything that can help Romney in Monday's foreign policy debate. Let him try to take his best shots at a president who's record on this all along has put him ahead of the candidate of Mitt's Magical Mystery Tour/foreign policy internship earlier this year when he managed to alienate our closest European ally when criticizing their Olympics security set-up (which were not held "in the middle of nowhere" like the Salt Lake City event Mitt managed). He even forgot "Mr Leader's" name.

He managed to enrage an entire population of people with his comments about Israeli's "cultural superiority" over Palestinians, construed by many as "racist". China considered his insensitive comments about Jerusalem (HIGHLY disputed "capital," part of which is considered OCCUPIED and not internationally recognized as such) as hawkish, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.

His avoidance of the press was decried by many, including the US corps who were along for the ride. Remember Poland's "kiss my ass" and "shove it" statements at the memorial site?. He offended the entire solidary movement in Poland, who quickly distanced itself from Romney despite Lech Walesa's calculated (anti-Obama) endorsement of Romney.

That's the record he created for HIMSELF, which he will be putting up against the president who ended the Iraq war, is drawing down troops in Afghanistan with its final deadline in clear sight, appropriately supported Arab Spring countries in the overthrow of decades worth of repressive regimes, and has been very effective in specifically targeting Al Qaeda leadership, including killing the mastermind of the 911, unlike the previous president who couldn't find time to even "worry about him."

I'm really looking forward to that showdown and feel gratified that, so far, all the committee has been able to do thus far is to show its blatant partisanship when allegedly trying to get to the one-sided "truth" of the situation.

Most partisan Congress ever... - SK1

This issue needed to be investigated immediately before things had a chance to "disappear." There is no doubt that some kind of coverup was (is) taking place.

When it comes to our national security and the death of four Americans at a US consulate, party shouldn't matter. You would THINK they would all be on the same page.

The original post didn't even mention Romney, so I won't contribute to hijacking the thread.

Thing about that again. - anon

IMO, we wouldn't be having this disagreement and again this division in the country and more importantly 4 Americans might not be dead if the Obama administration were not trying to cover up their actions to avoid any pre-election scandal.

Nothing that was classified was leaked. They were very careful about that, even in discussing anything in the hearing or showing anything that even gave the appearance of impropriety. In fact, the Republicans gave objection during the hearing to showing some things that had actually been declassified.

Google DARRELL ISSA + LEAKS. He's famous for them. A classic - authoritarian + zombie and representative of

all that's wrong with the GOP. This description of zombie politicians and their followers pretty much nails them:

"They are insistent in their opposition to civil rights, school desegregation, women's rights, labor organizing, the minimum wage, Social Security, LGBT rights, welfare, immigrant rights, public education, reproductive rights, Medicare, and Medicaid.

The walking hyper-dead even oppose providing the extension of unemployment benefits to millions of Americans who are out of work, food, and hope. They spectacularize hatred and trade in lies and misinformation. They make populist appeals to the people while legitimating the power of the rich.

They appeal to common sense as a way of devaluing a culture of questioning and critical exchange. Unrelenting in their role as archetypes of the hyper-dead, they are misanthropes trading in fear, hatred, and hyper-nationalism."

Check Issa's positions on all the issues mentioned--and be afraid of something real: The foolishishness that lead people to elect him to power. The biggest thing voters need to fear is falling under the spell of these vicious manipulators.

So true. He's a "witch hunter" extraordinaire. (nm) - anon

with the record to prove it. Car theft, weapons charges, intimidation, suspected arson...real stand-up guy!

Don't know where you got that info but if it were true - backwards typist

Issa wouldn't be where he is today. As far as I know, if you have a criminal record, you cannot run or hold office in local, state, or national politics.

Got proof? I'd like to know where you got the info and like to see it myself.
He was a teenager BUT - backwards typist
[ In Reply To ..]
he was only charged and found guilty of ONE (1) charge dealing with a concealed weapon in the car and served probation as a TEENAGER.

Saw nothing where he was suspected of arson. Car theft was bogus. Saw nothing about intimidation either....so I'd really like to know where you got your info.
Libs make up their "facts" as the go along - Will focus Issa as a teenager
[ In Reply To ..]
with total disregard for the lives lost in Benghazi and Obama's endless lies. Yet Libs spin till you want to vomit about how "compassionate: they are. They only thing Libs have a bead on is their all-encompassing hypocrisy.
This is called projecting. What you don't like or won't - admit about yourself on others. nm
