It's the reason he is being harassed by Republicans... JUST because he has a D by his name.
Never have there been demands re financial disclosure on a SOD candidate as there is currently on Hagel.
What the heck are you talking about? - sm

people are allowed to vote, when they don't even know which party/candidate is.
The only more terrible thing would be if THESE people home-school their children and create another generation of people who would believe all this "stuff."

I find it interesting that so many conservatives are so vocal about gun rights, yet they show a propensity to go off half-cocked, and frequently misidentify their targets.
He's highly qualified. This is all about money and for-profit - wars, of which he disapproves.nm

methods won't. The Neocon warmongers very strongly oppose him for that. As grandmother to 3 little boys, I want all our Secs of Defense to put troops "on the ground" reluctantly, as he would, not Neocon-eagerly. Our young men should not be seen as usable and disposable. Not to mention the lives of all those people who die when we bring our self-aggrandizing wars to their countries.
Bravo!! EXCELLENT post! Thanks for posting this. - nm

Hagel is nothing more than a far to the left - which is what Obama wants.

Might as well just give United States to the other countries for a taking.
AND, Obama using Hagel to push his far - left agenda.

Why be silly? Hagel's a Republican and a conservative, - just not a war industry supporter. nm

Republicans support continuing the vast profits of the war industry, then, and oppose any cuts at all to military spending as a way of balancing our budget and decreasing our deficit?
If getting control of military spending means he can't be a Republican, he has a problem. Because with his social views, I'll have him for Secretary of Defense but not for a fellow Democrat. He can't even be considered even a moderate socially, much less a liberal. I suppose he could start calling himself independent, like so many other conservatives are doing, but he doesn't seem to want to.

"Regarding his views on jihad, WND exposed that in unreported remarks during a 2007 Senate hearing Hagel posited that terrorism is not a belief but instead is a response to despair and a lack of hope."
This sounds pretty reasonable to me. In fact, it's hard for me to understand why WND characterizes their report as having exposed something.
The article references Sen. Inhofe's opposition to Hagel, but declines to address exactly what is meant by a “far left” military agenda.
Agree. And "far left military agenda" doesn't mean anything. It's just - a trigger phrase tor the ignorant.nm

So That's Why Hagel 'resigned'!Feb 01, 2015(ABC News) Outgoing Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel acknowledged Friday for the first time that some officials in the White House disagreed with his slow pace in releasing Guantanamo detainees. Mark Friedman On Sen. Hagel, Sobering View Of Israel's Self-destructiveDec 26, 2012"In case you haven’t heard, President Obama is considering appointing Chuck Hagel, a former United States senator from Nebraska and a Purple Heart winner, as the next secretary of defense — and this has triggered a minifirefight among Hagel critics and supporters. I am a Hagel supporter. I think he would make a fine secretary of defense — precisely because some of his views are not “mainstream.”
