Yeast infection

Posted: Aug 9, 2011

Has anyone ever had a yeast infection so badly that you almost want to end your life?  That is what a doc told me today.  I have no discharge whatsoever.  Just extremely intense itching and burning that will not let up.  I haven't slept in 3 nights.

I haven't gone to doctor but have had the same problem for MONTHS AND MONTHS. Try warm compresses/sitz baths in Epsom salts then use OTC jock-itch powder. Cleanliness and keeping dry is key.

When I was young I had a terrible yeast infection. I was not sure what it was. I just knew I was miserable. I took a hot bath and ended up in the ER the next day. The doctor said never, ever sit in hot or even warm water with a yeast infection. It is the very environment for yeast to thrive. It made my 10 times worse! He told me for relief to sit in cool water.

I started out with no discharge, but like you say, intense itching, burning. then it turned into discharge like cottage cheese. It was horrible. I went to the doc so much during that time, but the conventional medications did not help. Once they put me inhouse for a day. for a yeast infection! Then, my sister-in-laws mother (she is Japanese and an older woman) told me to try yogurt. Yes, plain yogurt, the thicker the better, in a very clean gauze or panty hose, put it "up there" a couple times a day. It worked. I can't tell you why, something about the cultured yeasts and vaginal pH.... but she says that "her people" have been doing that forever. Never heard of it, don't care, all I know is that after weeks of suffering, not sleeping and gooey underwear, THAT worked for me. (naturally a wash out will be required after your treatments! lol!) OH, and when I told my daughter about it, just for reference sake, she didn't have one, she asked if I used blueberry or peach! lol!

Thanks everyone. I have my life back. The PA prescribed fluconazole. I took it yesterday and within an hour, the itching stopped. She gave me an extra pill so I took it today "just in case". I slept last night (Thank God) and feel like a new person today. Scrubbed my floors and got a whole day of work in. I even danced and sang. My dog stared at me and it looked almost like she had a smile on her face, too. lol. I can believe you would need to be put inhouse for this as the person above said. It is completely debilitating.

If I were to have a viral spinal cord infection would I have a fever? My head and back hurt severely. I had a spinal tap in December that was negative but they checked for bacteria.  Worried about this and Guallain-Barre although I think I would be paralyzed by now. All my spinal muscles feel paralyzed.  Could that be part of fibro? I am just miserable. Thanks for any and all help. ...

More Americans might be accepting of President Barack Obama's zealous push to flood the country with refugees from war-torn parts of the world, if only he, along with federal and state officials, were more transparent about the entire process. Like for instance being up front with Americans about the health threat posed by many of these refugees.
