mixed emotions

Posted: Jan 4, 2012

So, I posted the other day about the mixed emotions I am having regarding going to work outside of the home, which I still have but, just thought I would share what type of things are out in the other working world.  I went on my interview yesterday and boy oh boy, if I am going to work somewhere out of the home, I hope to HECK I get this job.  This place I applied at is unbelievable.  I have worked in a professional office setting before, but nothing like this.  It is the corporate headquarters.  Each employee has their own cubicle with their own environmental control items including a small fan and some sort of heater if needed at your feet.  There is a full-service cafeteria with a large seating area, seating off to the side with multiple TV's, a fooseball table, ping-pong table, a couple computers for personal use since the work computers don't allow you to access personal e-mail, a free beverage center with soda, coffee and infused water, a convenience store, a bank, and a company store.   What???  There is a fitness center and when I toured the facility it was in the morning and they had an exercise class going on.  I questioned about this and the employees are allowed to go and exercise any time they want (what???); the work time has to be made up.  The ladies' locker room has all the amenities that you need after exercise to re-do yourself such as showers, curling irons.  Again, what???  Flexible hours, jeans days, 13 paid holidays, full benefits, 401K matching, sick pay.  I was bewildered and then had to proceed to interview with another person.

Within a couple hours of my interview I received a phone call and e-mail letting me know that they are still interested in me and moved onto the next process in hiring.  I completed that and now am once again waiting to hear.  The excitement that I felt after going through this interview process was amazing.  I will be extremely bummed if I do not get this job because the bottom line is that I don't really want to work away from home, but feel I need to change my situation.  Anyways... this at least gives me some hope that there is something else out there that would be worth it if someone just gives me the chance to prove that I can do the job that I once did before being an MT.

Good luck! - Glenn

The McKinney chief of police, Greg Conley, called the police officer's actions in the video, which included pulling his gun out and pointing it at a group of teens and restraining a 15-year-old girl on the ground, "indefensible" and said he was "out of control." The attorney for the McKinney police officer, Eric Casebolt, held a press conference today and said that her client let his emotions get the best of him when he responded to the disturbance call at the Craig Ranch community pool. ...
