Who here uses sea salt & why do you use it over regular table salt?
Is it course or can you buy it ground? Is it more expensive?

There is no difference in nutritional value or chemical make up in table salt and sea salts. They are both sodium and chloride. Some table salts have iodine added, not many sea salts do.
The difference is in the tastes (sea salts are wonderful!) and in the textures.
Yes, you can use sea salt in place of table salt, absolutely. They can be quite pricey though.
My favorite is Himilayan Pink and Danish Viking smoked salt. Delicious!
I got a sample pack at World Market and was hooked!

I use sea salt although I generally try to limit my salt usage regardless of the type. Sea salt comes from the sea and is supposed to be some healthier than regular salt, whether it is or not. You can buy coarse or fine. It even comes now with iodine.

I have recently bought some peanuts, other nuts, and potato chips with sea salt. Although I found them tasty, they did not seem as salty as regular salt. I do know that sea salt is supposedly healthier for you. Maybe it is a new fad - just like with green tea.

It tastes better than regular salt. You don't get the needed iodide, but i'm not sure if thats a big deal. You can get it ground or in chunks. The prices have come down quite a bit. I get a pound of mortons sea salt for about $2.50 and it lasts me a few months. I'm a salt freak, so it may last you longer. :)
