Mosquitos

Posted: Sep 14, 2010

Every time I go out no matter when I get bites.  I am always constantly worrying about West Nile because I am over 50.  What a pain.  Anybody else seem to attract these buggers.

I get bites all the time & they get swollen, itch like crazy & last forever. I got some non-DEET insect repellent from Cutter that is really great, smells nice, isn't oily, works really well. If I don't put it on, I'm a sitting duck.

and I'm the one that it zooms in on. I never go out unless I spray myself with a repellant.

I've had to deal with it over 50 years now. I think it has something to do with the carbon dioxide emitted from the body.

My son and I can be outside and he will get chewed to death and I won't even get a single bite.

His doctor said that it has to do with the amount of CO2 you have in your breath. People who emit more CO2 in their breath will attract mosquitoes.

My boyfriend and I were watching "Ask This Old House" last weekend and they were showing a contraption that you put in your yard that actually attracts the mosquitoes to it and traps them so that there aren't as many in the common areas of the yard. It uses propane and CO2. I thought it was pretty cool, but it probably costs a fortune!

I use Avon's Skin So Soft bath oil to repell black flies and mosquitos. It works quite well for me, but my husband on the other hand will not use it due to the "nice" scent - :)

On Friday, the FDA released a final environmental assessment of the trial, finding that it “will not have significant impacts on the environment.” The project, led by Oxitec, a biotech company that focuses on insect control, calls for the release of thousands of geneti ...
