MAC anesthesia

Anyone that has ever had MAC anesthesia, can you tell me how long until you were able to go home after the surgery with MAC.

To me, MAC was like general minus the intubation. You supposedly are able to talk to the doctors, etc. but darned if I remember a thing. I had it for my endoscopy, colonoscopy and hand surgery. MAC is a piece of cake.

I was actually wondering how many hours after the surgery under MAC can you leave the surgery center.

30 min to an hour or so if everything is going well. Heck, I think I was booted out about 20 min. after my colonoscopy but that's a test.

It depends on your surgery and how it went, how your vitals are responding, how alert you are, etc. I'd say you'll be discharged within a couple of hours if everything goes well.

Being an MT I should know this but it totally slipped my mind. Let me say I had a BP of 192/102, which was insane. The anesthesiologist seemed cheerful when he interviewed me before surgery and said he will still do the surgery.
