Did anyone ever invest in penny stocks?  I never heard of this before, but I have very little money and apparently you can invest small amounts of money.  I did a search, and it sounds like a way of making some money, but I haven't a clue on how to go about it.  Can someone help?  If you have other suggestions for someone who is by no means young, I would love to hear from you.  Thanks.

Be very careful with penny stocks - an investor MT

Some people have made good money by investing in penny stocks, but many more people end up losing. My advice would be to do your homework, research, research, research, and learn about it before you dive in and start investing any money. Investing in penny stocks is a fine art and you have to really know your stuff and be good at it in order to make any money. And above all, NEVER invest any money in penny stocks that you ever expect to see again. If you do end up making money, great. But if you don't (and 9+ times out of 10 you won't), don't gamble with money that you can't afford to lose. And yes, investing in any stocks is a form of gambling...with penny stocks being an even great gamble.

Thanks, investor - Way Too Late

I truly appreciate your input. It is a no win situation when you can't afford to invest for fear of losing money. My friend suggested mutual funds. I am going to call an advisor and tell them of my situation. I need to swallow my pride and hope I find a firm that deals with the little guy who has very little to invest. Thanks again. What would you suggest as being safer than the penny stocks? Any help you can give is so appreciated.
