How to download Express Scribe without getting malware?

The last time I downloaded Express Scribe, I got malware that changed my home page, and I went through heck to get rid of it. I would uninstall it from my control panel, but it wouldn't uninstall! I FINALLY got rid of it, and now I'm afraid to download anything else, especially free stuff, 'cause I don't want to get malware. I can't afford to buy Express Scribe, so I need the free version, but now it seems sites are getting more and more underhanded about bundling krap, because now it looks like you can't even UNcheck those extra bundled things you don't want while or before you're downloading! Does anyone know of a way or a site where I can download free Express Scribe without getting attached malware? I really need the money and want to do this job, but I work at home and need my computer for 2 other ongoing jobs, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I paid a small fee for my Express Scribe, just a few $$, for a one computer license or such, so no malware with it. May be worth it.

May I ask - how much did you pay and where? - kacki

How much was it and where did you purchase it from? I'm seeing prices from $66 to $90+, and unfortunately I can't afford that right now. Also, I can't wait for it to get here. Thanks!

That's odd. I've downloaded the free version of Express Scribe, and I've never had an issue with it at all. Are you downloading it right from the NCH website. Unfortunately the free version of Express Scribe isn't really free any more. It last for about 14 days and then if you want to keep it they ask you to buy it. I just deleted it from my computer and reinstall the same version again. If you don't need to timestamp, may I suggest For The Record. I feel it's much better than ES and it's free.

and using the "unsubscribe" feature doesn't seem to work. I may have to block them to get rid of that garbage.

I have a really older free version that's on another laptop (Vista) but I can't reload or use free on this newer Windows HP laptop. Their software is programmed to figure out what computer you're using and you can't use an old truly free version on a newer computer.

You can't really get away from their malaware unless you know how to delete it, you may have to get a tech to do it.

They're looking to gouge people whenever possible. I truly despise this company, but didn't have much of a choice to upgrade and buy. I've looked at For The Record and was not impressed.

Is it possible to get a completely free version of ES anymore? I downloaded that trial version and right in the middle of work today it said it expired. it's like that song has disappeared from the face of the earth. It goes like "One look, one meeting, two hearts as one beating, one look and I knew......" .
