Help seat cusion

Posted: Nov 13, 2014

I sit in an expensive Herman Miller Chair and have for the past 12+ years.  I have noticed in the past year my rear end is so sore it is making it very difficult to work, anyone have any recommendations for seat cushions that work, there are so many out there and I have an expensive $50+ tailbone cushion that just does not cut it anymore.  I was hoping someone might have some good experience with a pillow that are possibly $40 bucks or less.  Tried a memory foam wedge pillow I sleep on and it does not help.

When my bed pillow isn't as comfy anymore, it becomes my chair pillow for work. I sit on a bed pillow until it's useless, then the next pillow for my poor, chair-weary backside is selected. It seems to work & it's cheap.

I started using a bed pillow last year also - Works great

My back doesn't hurt anymore. An extra rug underneath my feet helps also.

Rug here too - me

In winter, I put one of those kitchen rugs down for my feet. The carpet just isn't enough. I have another pillow for my back which helps also. With all the hours at desk, the extra padding helps a lot.

My rear end was giving me real issues - until I just switched chairs

I had a rather expensive chair but after about 2 hours of sitting my rear hurt. I switched to a mesh chair and it has really made a difference, now I can sit for about 4 without hurting. It has not totally relieved any discomfort if I just sit for straight 6 hours say without getting up, still have to do that occasionally but the mesh chair helped quite a bit.

Cortisone shot and no need for new cushion - sm

I had the most God-awful aching pain every minute sitting on my office chair.  I bought several cushions of all prices.  It's the same chair I've used for 2 years, and it's a very good chair.  I started reading up on what could be the problem.  It isn't sciatica or pyriformis syndrome or tailbone pain.  It's specially the bones I sit on (each buttock cheek).  I mean to tell you, it was the worst pain I've ever had.  I didn't have it while driving or sitting at home on the couch.  Only when I was sitting at my desk.  It was affecting my ability to walk up and down steps.

I figured out that it was ischial tuberosity pain!  Went to the ortho doctor, who took an x-ray and agreed that it was indeed ischial bursitis.  He gave me a cortisone injection in each side, and I've been pain-free since.  Instead of paying money for a new cushion, you might want to ask your doctor for a cortisone injection right into the sore area.  The shot itself hurts REALLY bad, but only for a couple of minutes.  It's worth it!

The Scalia Seat: Let The People SpeakMar 07, 2016
Republicans and Democrats are deeply divided over the proper role of the Supreme Court. President Obama and Democrats favor justices who see the Constitution as a potter sees clay—something that can be molded to achieve their desired results. This has led the Supreme Court to invent rights that are nowhere in the Constitution—like the right to an abortion or to same-sex marriage—and ignore or restrict rights that even nonlawyers can’t miss—like the First and Second Amendments. My Back Seat Driving FriendsOct 25, 2015
I have a friend and she has 3 kids. I love to take them places and enjoy activities but there is a huge barrier and I do not know how to handle this. I have driven for years and years, never had an accident much less a major one. I have had probably 4 tickets in my life, years ago also, most for speeding, none in the last say 10 years. The woman and her daughter are terrible back seat drivers. I can truthfully say I have never had people to ride with me that act like they do. Yesterday I took th ...

Huma Abedin Left Classified Material Unsecured In Front Seat Of Her CarAug 23, 2016
Hillary Clinton’s top State Department aide, Huma Abedin, left classified government information that needed to be burned in the front seat of her vehicle. “Favor” is the subject of Abedin’s July 20, 2009 email to Lauren Jiloty, Clinton’s personal assistant. Judicial Watch obtained the records and hundreds more pages of Abedin emails as part of its ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the State Department. “I’m going to have ambassador ride on next drive,” wro ...
