We got 9 inches of snow on New Years and now we are getting another 7-8 inches by tomorrow morning. Tomorrow the high is going to be 9 with wind chill -20 and Tuesday the high is 2 and might hit -30 for wind chill. And to think this time last year I was on sunny Florida for the winter. Wish I was there this year. Miami high of 82. And here I sit. It was so much fun x-mas shopping in shorts and a tank top.

Expecting a low of 36 tomorrow!! - Sunny, though.

waiting for my warm weather to come in!
35 is warm in WI this time of year. We're at MINUS 45 with windchill!! - clb

Saturday was high of 28 in SE Wisconsin and it was "warm" so everyone was out getting their car washed (not me) and shopping to stock up on gas, food, and supplies. Walmart was packed! Now it's back to typical January weather in Wisconsin, below zero before windchill. My car is frozen and will not start even with a full tank of gas with a bottle of HEET put in.

You know it's cold when you have to put on layers just to take the dog potty and they don't want to stay outside to play. THAT'S COLD!!!
And all schools/govt buildings are closed Mon/Tues also! It's insanely cold! nm - clb

You are prepared for this! All we have is flimsy fashion winter-wear! It may look warm and toasty, but it's just for show. No help at all!!

No thermal underwear here, either, friends. I wonder if I can stuff a pool coverup under my clothes without anyone noticing ...

It was terribly sad yesterday, too. There were hypothermic lizards lying pathetically all over the sidewalks, where there was even the least bit of sun, trying desperately to warm up. They did not look good.

See message... - :-)

Yes, I am prepared for this seeing as I have lived in WI my whole life so I have nowhere else to compare it to, but even with winter coats, warm clothes, wool everything, ice scrapers, shovels, snowblowers, HEET for your gas tank, and "winterizing" it still sucks when the windchill is -45. Just to go to your mailbox and back takes less than a minute and if not dressed properly you will be almost frostbitten! I can't believe they do not have winter gear where you live. What about hunting, camping, fishing stores like Cabela's or the like? Practically every store in WI has hot hands/feet at the checkout. Those things are awesome! If you have no access to warm clothes, do you have to order them online then? I may sound "duh" but like I said, I've never lived in another state so anyone not being used to snow or cold for 4-5 months out of the year sounds foreign to me. My neighbor goes to FL every year during this time to get away from the cold. To me, I think it's kinda funny when a southern state has like 1 inch of snow and they shut the city down, to us Wisconsinites 1 inch of snow is like Easter. LOL

Seriously though, get yourself some warm clothes. It's supposed to be 30+ degrees here this weekend and that's a "heat wave" in SE Wisconsin so I can drive my unfrozen car again! I was not making fun of your post, just stating that 36 degrees to us is not cold, but if your area never got that low on the thermometer then I could see how you are cold.

Bundle up!
Cabelas? We have the Ron Jon Surf Shop! - LOL

Snowed In And Just Got Power Back On In SE Dec 22, 2009
Well, even though my home looks like a Currier & Ives Christmas card, we just now today got our power back totally.   (Off since Friday)   Our van we dug out yesterday.   Luckily we have a wood burning heater, but have to go and buy some more wood now.  Been "camping" in my own house with Coleman lanterns and cook stoves.   Live on the side  of a moutain with the view of beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains (Mt. Mitchell) out my picture window.&nbs ...
