Every day dishes

Posted: Mar 31, 2011

I am looking to buy a set of every day dishes. I would prefer not to buy each place setting individually.  Does anyone own the food network dishes?  What is your opion? I have seen mixed reviews.  What dishes do you have for every day?

TIA

For every day I use dishes I bought at a kitchen shop - sm

They cost me about one dollar each. I also use dishes I bought at a grocery store. They cost me about two dollars. For everyday dishes I don't want fancy. I got fancy dishes from my sister when I got married and those chipped and broke within a short time. The cheap ones last. Even my $2 plates have lasted me about 8 years. They are a good sturdy ceramic with a bright design. Besides, I don't feel like eating a PB&J sandwich on china.

I did just see Bobby Flay on the food channel and he was advertising his dishes (I think they are his). They were pretty, but I've got enough dishes.

Oh yes, the one dollar plates I bought at the kitchen store are blue speckled and pretty....and plastic. They've never broken or chipped. I've had them for almost 14 years.

I use Corelle dishes. I think I've had them for about 15 years. They still look good as new. I bought a set, but I know you can get them at Walmart open stock.

Especially if you have kids. Hard to break, attractive. Can't go wrong!

We grew up on Corelle - Very pretty and 58 years later - Mom still has them all

They lasted a long time, but ex got them. My dishes now are ones that my husband had when I met him, which are stoneware and we have had for the past 17 years, but if I were to buy a new set of everyday dishes, would go with Corelle. They have so many different patterns and have the round and square dishes, which I really like the look of square plates. You can go on Amazon and they have a ton of different sets and are very reasonable, anywhere from $25 to around $60. Also, if you have an Ikea near you, they usually have pretty durable stuff in their stores.

I love my Corelle too - sm

I have the square white set. They are the best set I have ever had. Believe it or not, I even like the cups (mugs) that came with the dishes.

Friend of mine has 12 different sets of 1 place Corelle settings that she bought at thrift stores. Her kids and family members all have a favorite design. I thought that was a cool idea and it doesn't look bad on the table.
