Encouragement or praise

Posted: Jan 21, 2013

Any companies or your husband's companies or friends, family, etc. ever speak of getting told they are doing a good job and a valued employee?  When i told my husband that I just wanted to be told once in a while at work (or home for that matter) that I am valued and doing a good job, he said that "no employers" do that anymore.  Is that true?  Anybody yea or neh?

As far as work goes, I just don't want to be ragged on. I don't need praise though it is nice when it happens. Frankly, when it comes to work, I'd rather be praised in a paycheck, but that doesn't happen anymore.

In my personal life, I continually tell the people I love (hubby included) how wonderful they are, and I get it back in return.

Praise that is not confirmed in my paycheck means nothing, especially if I'm otherwise being treated unfairly by my employer. In fact, empty flattery in that situation is downright insulting because it suggests a little pat on the top of my head is going to convince me how much I'm appreciated. In the business world, value is demonstrated with a dollar amount.

The primary reason we work is to make a living. I like praise from my boss as much as the next person, but not if I'm not being paid a decent wage.

Need Some Prayer And EncouragementOct 22, 2012
Okay, I will start by letting you all know that I graduated with Honors from CS program in 2009. I have worked (during 2 different time periods) for HyperType, Inc. During the last 1.5 years, my family has been through a LOT of crud. My Mom passed away last July, I got a divorce, and now am trying to get things straightened out in my life. I really love transcription work, but I am struggling in HyperType. The company has been really great to me; however, with the rate of pay they offer and me h ...

Could You Some Advice/encouragementMay 22, 2015
Hi ~ I could really use some advice and/or encouragement.  I have been a medical transcriptionist for 20 years, working at home for a little more than half of that time.  I have always been a shy, quiet person, but I do my best to smile and try to be friendly and always try to be kind to everyone.  Today I went to an appointment about a class I'll be taking soon.  While waiting for my turn, all of the new students had to sit together in these chairs along the wall. When ...

Encouragement From Our Daily Bread...Sep 03, 2015
it certainly is something I needed to hear!   Dr. Brian Goldman obsessively tried to be perfect in treating his patients. But on a nationally broadcast show he admitted to mistakes he had made. He revealed that he had treated a woman in the emergency room and then made the decision to discharge her. Later that day a nurse asked him, “Do you remember that patient you sent home? Well, she’s back.” The patient had been readmitted to the hospital and then died. This devast ...

I posted a prayer request several months ago for my son's MIL who was in the hospital on a respirator with ARDS after a bout with the flu and pneumonia.  She is now home from rehab and doing fairly well, although is still struggling with some short-term memory deficits.  I want to thank everyone for praying and give all glory to God.  He is truly the Great Physician.   ...
