Big Bugs!

Posted: Jul 26, 2013

Tonight I saw a large bug on the kitchen floor.  It was black and about 1 1/2 inches long.  It had antennae (sp).  It did not move nearly as fast as a roach.  What could it be??  This happened last year about this time and my landlord got an exterminator in.  Tonight is the first one I saw!  When I threw a towel on it, it kinda fluttered and tried to get away, but again, not lightening fast like a roach.  HELP!!

If you see anymore of them you might need to get the landlord to get an exterminator to come. I don't know what it could be.

they're the slow cousin to the roach

we see these all the time after a large rain during the warm and hot months in Texas

That's what I thought it might be. I live in south central Pennsylvania. It looked like it might try to fly, but didn't. I got that one, but I am so freaked out by bugs. It has been very humid here, and we just had a very heavy rain. What do you do to get rid of them? I don't think they will get in cupboards and run over dishes, etc. At least they did not last year. I saw a total of three last year, but the landlord got right on it then. He's a good guy.

She used to use roach traps and that got rid of hers. She got them around the shower in the basement.

You probably have a - palmetto bug...

They look like a giant roach. We get them here sometimes here in NC as well. They are kind of scary, but fortunately, I don't think they "infest" the way the smaller roaches do, so they don't become a terrible problem indoors.

Get Black Flag or Raid Roach Motels. Get the ones for large roaches and put them in the corners of your kitchen. That will take care of them. They are a form of a large roach, they they tend not to infest, and are easy to eliminate.

I think they're June bugs in OH, just put them out the door. nm - Freebie

any ideas about how to get rid of the creatures.  I don't have them here personally but now I am totally freaked out and paranoid.  I keep reading about people bringing them home from vacation and that they are getting to be an epidemic in this country.  What do we do if we do get them?  How do you kill them?  Anyone know anything more about this - I totally dislike bugs.  I hate to kill any of them but ... ...

Question About Little Bugs Flying Around BreadNov 15, 2010
Okay, last week I bought 2 sourdough rolls to make a little bowl to put some clam chowder in.  Got home and froze them in the bag they came in.  I took them out last night to thaw out and today I looked at the bag, which was still sealed shut (no holes in the bag anywhere), and I saw what looked like fruit flies (about 5 or 6 or so).  I took them out of the bag and put them on a plate and covered with saran wrap.   So here's my stupid question...are these sourdough rol ...
