Beaches

Posted: May 3, 2010

In light of the recent oil spill in the gulf of mexico, it looks like it will be a waste of our time to head to Destin the end of July for vacation.  Does anyone have any other beach ideas?  I was so looking forward to taking my son for the first time in 9 years - he's never been!!

You don't say where you are but Atlantic beaches are nice. I like Amelia Island/Fernandina just north of Jacksonville or the islands off the Georgia Coast. (Jekyll, Sea Island, St. Simon's)

I'm in Arkansas - So bummed

In North Carolina! Lots of cute and historic beach towns as well. The only good thing to come out of this current disaster is that hopefully they will NEVER allow drilling off our coast!

Been there once briefly when DH drove a truck. We took a load of something to a convention center. I thought it was lovely! We were wanting to go to the beach this year. Destin is our usual spot, but I had considered Jekyl Island due to being close to Savannah and the beautiful antebellum homes. We haven't been in YEARS as well. Won't get to go though. I was in ICU in February so there went our vacation. The Outer Banks of NC are nice, too. Been there 20 years ago. lol I know a lot of people also rave about Myrtle Beach, SC.

I'm a PT MT and a PT travel consultant. I can recommend many beaches both domestic and international. The Florida keys are a favorite of mine if you are wanting to go to Florida, especially Siesta Key. It has the most beautiful white soft sand. If you need more ideas or need help planning a vacation, feel free to email me:)
