He gets up there and speaks for over an hour, largely unscripted. Why have we never seen that kind of thing from politicians in the past? Because their consultants would never have let them do it. And most politicians wouldn’t want to do so anyway. They’d rather have a pre-written focus group tested speech that somebody else wrote, because they’re uncomfortable speaking honestly and from the heart.
