Your post sounds as if we did black people a favor by selling them into servitude and treating them as if they were personal property instead of human beings. You have not calculated the profit that was made off the backs of slaves in the cotton and tobacco industries in addition the other free labor they provided to wealthy plantation owners. They were denied the right to an education and the right to vote long after they were declared free. They were lynched and suffered other injustices, including being denied the same freedoms that ignorant white people took for granted. I suppose you also think that we did Native Americans a favor by taking their land and letting them live on the reservation.
