It wasn't manslaughter either - sm

There's a good overview of the trial at legalinsurrection.com.

Facts from the case:
- Floyd had 3 times the lethal dose of fentanyl in his system and meth. More than enough to kill him.
- The restraint Chauvin used didn't obstruct Floyd's airway or his breathing or blood flow to his brain. There were no bruises and Chauvin changed position frequently. Sometimes on Floyd's shoulder, sometimes his back, sometimes his neck.
- The prosecution's use of force expert testified that Floyd was violent and Chauvin was justified to use MORE force than he did, like a taser.
- The "knee on the neck" restraint is used world-wide on handcuffed individuals. No one has died as a result. It was part of Chauvin's training and an authorized common practice by the department.

The media made it sound like Chauvin wanted Floyd dead because they used to work together at a club. The trial made it sound like Chauvin used the minimum amount of force (no taser) because he knew Floyd. The media never cited any evidence of why Chauvin would hate Floyd and want him dead.
