He is 74 years old, fell almost 3 weeks ago and suffered a broken arm. He's been through quite an ordeal being admitted to various facilities, dealing with overwhelmed doctors and nurses, just trying to get the proper care for his arm. It was never placed in a brace at the original hospital, only in a sling. He was in constant pain. Even so, he was sent to a rehab facility! My neighbor demanded he be sent to a hospital to be seen by an orthopedist. He was tested a couple of times for Covid and was negative.
By the time he arrived to the new hospital, he was showing signs of pneumonia. His cellphone and 2 pairs of glasses were somehow lost, so it became that much more difficult for him to stay in touch with family. His pneumonia was treated and began to clear. His arm was finally placed in the proper brace.
Unfortunately, about a week ago he tested positive for Covid. He is being treated with remdesivir now, but it's been a rocky course. His BP at times is labile. He is on low-flow oxygen, but breathing okay on his own. My neighbor is devastated. This is her big brother who's always been there for her. And she can't even go to see him and keep an eye on him because of the hospital Covid restrictions. Before this all happened, he was always very careful to wear a mask when in public places and avoid situations that might expose him to Covid...
