FEC Data Shows Twitter, Facebook Employees Have Given 51 Times More To Biden Than Trump

Employees at Facebook and Twitter have made overwhelmingly more donations to the Biden campaign compared to the Trump campaign.

Trump vs. Biden campaign: According to data from the Federal Election Commission, Twitter and Facebook employees made a total of 64 donations to the Trump campaign and 1,354 contributions to the Biden campaign from the beginning of the election season until the end of August, the Daily Caller reported. The companies’ workers gave the Biden campaign $547,645 and only $10,718 to President Trump. The figures do not include donations made via the political action committee.

Data from the nonprofit Center for Responsive Politics, which includes PAC donations, shows that 19% of Twitter’s employees’ federal donations were sent to the Biden campaign for a total of $66,929. At Facebook, 25% of the total federal donations, or $645,152, were for the Biden campaign. The numbers show that the Democratic presidential nominee received the most amount of money from both companies, compared to any other candidate, the Media Research Center reported.

Democrats. vs Republicans: Center for Responsive Politics also reported that 90% of all political donations from Twitter and Facebook were for Democrats.

Twitter employees contributed $347,270 to Democrats, which amounts to 98.99% of all federal donations from the company. Only 1.01% of the federal donations, or $3,556, from Twitter employees, went to the Republicans. Facebook employees donated $2.4 million to Democrats or 91.68% of the total federal donations. 8.2% of the federal donations, or $218,576, were made to Republicans.

Meanwhile, both Twitter and Facebook censored an unflattering New York Post story about Biden. The report cited emails, obtained from a laptop left at a repair store, that indicated Hunter Biden introduced a top advisor at Burisma in 2015 with the then vice-president. Both companies claimed that the allegations in the story were unverified and suggested they’ll allow the story when it’s confirmed. Facebook did not entirely censor the story but said it will reduce its reach at least until its fact-checkers review the allegations. Twitter took a more restrictive approach and banned users from sharing it on the platform, drawing a mounting backlash.

Today, Twitter said it will change some of its policies in light of how it handled the New York Post story.
