Agree with this reply, if you truly want to understand how the data is compiled. All labs are required to report their results to their respective health agencies, who in turn report the data to the CDC. It’s impossible to compute daily totals accurately, so they prefer to average them weekly. This is what JHU does.

Don’t forget that several months ago Trump wanted all data normally reported to the CDC to be reported to Aazar. I don’t think we can full confidence in the CDC any longer, unfortunately.
