JHU has been tracking this data. Most likely "1000" deaths a day is an estimate, not exactly an average, but could be. There is a lot of interesting analysis and collection on JHU.

I am that, now a cancer registrar, so I do a lot of data. I would source JHU for serious analytics...Worldometer is kind of round numbers
