Jake Gardner, owner of an Omaha bar, was indicted by a grand jury on manslaughter and other charges. The district attorney initially said it was self-defense and declined to charge Mr. Gardner. The rioter he shot had broken windows at the bar and other businesses in the area.
The leftists didn't like this, and district court judge appointed a special counsel, assistant DA Fredrick Franklin, to the case. They both said they expected the same resulteult. The leftists continued to press for felony charges, and Franklin caved.
A GoFundMe for Mr. Gardner's defense was deleted. He had said he planned to turn himself in on September 21. He killed himself instead.
