I too had a positive Cologuard. I had to come in to see my doctor to "discuss" it and had to pay another bill for the visit. My doctor was not even there that day; she was "sick." (She is sick a lot.) But the substitute doctor I talked to told me a lot! He was reading off his phone all the warnings given by the Cologuard company. I think they must slap every one of their tests with a positive reading just to cover their behinds! Even if there is a miniscule amount of blood caused by perhaps a polyp that got nicked in the process of collecting the sample, or other benign reasons, they consider that positive. Or countless other things... I have not yet scheduled an appointment for a colonoscopy because I am a procrastinator. But now I am thinking that I will ask my doctor if she will put in preventative instead of diagnostic because it has been a long long time since my last colonoscopy. Sorry I cannot answer your question because I have not actually gone for the colonoscopy. But maybe if you ask your doctor to change the billing... There was one time long ago when I had a colonoscopy just because I was of the age to have it and I was charged 800 dollars because 2 polyps were found and removed. They were then able to call that surgery!!!!! That was the copay.
I shudder to think what I would have been charged without insurance! I fussed and fumed quite a bit, but we were living in California then and my husband was getting California wages and I was doing MT work, pre voice recognition, so the bill was not difficult to pay off. Now, things have changed a whole lot in the world. Yes, definitely ask your doctor if he or she could put in the billing that would help your pocketbook. If that person has a heart, maybe it could happen.
